Snow days are gloomy, Although there is a little spark of joy when school closure news is posted at the early morning, after that there is a depressing white day outside and darkness inside with upside down home and complaining kids.
This week in Ontario we are having very harsh weather with snow storm wind chill temperature is touching -35 Celsius, Initially on Monday, School closure wasn't announced but all school buses were cancelled in our region, Based on previous experiences I kept kids home and soon after snow started and roads started getting messier, parents started getting notifications to pick up kids early.
I have three Ts at home a "Teenager" a "Tween" and a "Toddler", My teen son wanted to play board games,My tween daughter decided to do some painting and took out my painting stuff from a corner of garage with the help of her brother and my toddler just wanted to make sure to jump in everything we were doing and equally does his part.
Good thing, we were ready to celebrate a snowy day together with a lot of new ideas and energy, Bad thing is that we were running out of some basic grocery items, Although I had the plan to go for it on Sunday but in -25 we felt so lazy to go out, shovel our driveway and clear out vehicle, instead on the basis of weather forecast I decided to do it on Tuesday as it was showing little better that time, but unfortunately it got worst. Our superhero of the family while coming back from the office(which was also dismissed early) took the lead, accepted the grocery challenge and somehow brought it in the severe storm and cold, As a reward he asked for "Pakorey" while making his signature "Fruit chat" with Pakistani guavas. Here came the "Pakora challenge", My daughter likes Spinach ones, her dad loves Onion Pakoras and Potatoes are my son's all-time favourite so I ended up making them all.
So that is how we spent our snow day, Monopoly, Giant Checkers,Painting, Fruit chat & Pakoray and it went awesome Alhamdullilah.
Don't let the snow slow down your spirit, when life gives you snow, Make memories. Play together, Paint together and make Pakoray of all kind ;), Life is not a race, Find joy in the journey!
